IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who want to study or work where English is the language of communication. It is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pty Ltd, and was established in 1989. IELTS is widely accepted by British, Canadian, New Zealand, Australian and South African Universities as also over 2,000 Universities in The United States. It is also a mandatory prerequisite for immigration to Australia and Canada.
There are two versions of IELTS:
- Academic Version
- General Training Version.
IELTS is made up of 4 sections:
IELTS is scored on nine bands. The scores are valid for 2 years and there are 39 exam centers all over in India.
