Highlights about the University of Birmingham

·         The University of Birmingham (informally Birmingham University, or simply Birmingham) is a British Redbrick (Traditional) University located in the city of Birmingham, England.

·          It is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research universities and a founding member of Universitas 21.

·   It received its charter in 1900 as a successor to Mason Science College and the 1825 Birmingham Medical School.

 Birmingham was the first Redbrick University to gain an official royal charter.

·   The student population includes around 16,500 undergraduate and 8,000 postgraduate students, making it the largest university in the West Midlands region, and the 11th largest in the UK.

·   As per the latest Complete University Guide league table for

2012 University of Birmingham is ranked 22nd out of 116 institutions surveyed. In many subjects including Engineering University of Birmingham ranked amongst top 20 UK Universities

Undergraduate Courses      

Standard XII (ICSE, CBSE, and West

Bengal) requires a minimum percentage of 75%. Some of our  programmes will require higher marks. For other boards they require more than 80%.

Students who do not meet the above entry requirement can apply for a Foundation course leading to the main course.

Undergraduate:

Engineering and Science (except Psychology and Medical and Sport

Sciences): IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band.

Business, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Social Policy, Sociology, Education, History, English and Humanities subjects, Medical Science, Psychology, Sport and Exercise Science: 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.

Law, Nursing, and Physiotherapy: 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band Medicine, Dentistry: 7.0 with no less than 7.0 in any band.

Postgraduate:

Engineering and Science: 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band.

Arts, Business, Education, Health Sciences, Public Policy, Social

Sciences: 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.

Medicine, Dentistry: 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band.

Law (LLM): 7.0 with no less than 6.0 in any band.

IELTS can be waived for both undergraduate & postgraduate courses if the students are from Indian (ICSE/CBSE/West Bengal) Boards with a score of 75% plus in Class XII & for other Indian state examination boards 80% plus in Class XII.
